More detailed information, including the latest forms can be found on the CTT web site Notes to Promoters Organise your timekeepers, handicappers and event headquarters early in the season. The District will supply you with the risk assessment data relating to your courses, this will include the necessary marshal and sign locations and any other instructions. Six weeks before the event prepare and despatch 3 copies of the Police Notice Police permission to hold a time trial is only required if they have not received the notice in time. Course changes for whatever reason, may only be undertaken with the agreement of the District Secretary and Committee. Whilst the police may agree to an alternative route, the District Secretary may have reasons for rejecting it. The Committee will try to advise promoters of road works and necessary course changes as they occur, however any information on road works affecting our courses is always appreciated. Only members of CTT affiliated clubs may ride club or open time trials approved by District Councils, except GHS and events under “Come and try it” conditions. Despatch your start sheets for open events as soon a possible, include on to Vic Williams and one to the District Treasure John Longbottom, 43 Curzon Road, Maidstone, ME14 5BB together with the levies of £2.00 per rider (50p for club events). Cheques should be payable to Cycling Time Trials, a receipt will be provided if requested. All start and result sheet must state, “The event is promoted for and on behalf of Cycling Time Trials under their Rules and Regulations”. This is a legal requirement. Riders must ensure they compete in adherence to the Rules and Regulations of CTT. Disciplinary action may result from any breaches in regulations. Riders must also ensure that their helpers conform to the Regulations relating to vehicles. Start sheets should state, “CTT advise you to wear recognised protective headgear. CTT regulations state that all Junior and Juvenile riders must wear such headgear. Under normal circumstances, it is essential to keep to agreed start times. Body numbers are compulsory in all open and club events. Arrange for a prominent black and white chequered board/flag to mark the finish line. Where there are separate category awards, the start sheet should state clearly whether they are open to more than one group, e.g. Juveniles may compete for Junior awards. All rides in open and club events must sign on the official signing on form, before receiving a body number. CTT Event Safety Concern Forms must be available to all riders. Any completed forms should be sent to the District Secretary, Tony Peachey. Issue a result sheet within 28 days to all riders, Vic Williams and to the local VTTTA recorder (please also send a copy for inclusion on the web site). All “On the day Risk Assessment”, forms should be sent to Tony Peachey.
Start Times for Club Events Competitors in evening events in the SEDC must finish at least half an hour before sunset. The
last person should be able to finish within 5 minutes of the times listed below.
If the promotion takes place on a particularly dark evening or under bad weather conditions, these times should be adjusted at the discretion of the timekeepers and/or available officials. The safety of riders should be paramount at all times, cancel a race rather than put riders at risk In poor weather conditions. ISLE OF GRAIN COURSES High Halstow Recreational Hall, Eden Road, High Halstow, Isle of Grain Guide to Field Placing It is necessary to:- a. Place the seeded riders at least 5 minutes apart. b. Separate riders of similar capabilities. c. Arrange riders of different capabilities, putting them in fastest to slowest order to avoid bunching. It is preferable to:- d. Ensure that the seeded riders have much the same conditions e. Avoid members of any one club riding in sequence. f. Locate members close to each other without compromising team awards. When using a computerised program for field layout, on completion, interchange riders of similar ability to avoid compromising any of the above requirements. Promotions 2009 If you wish to promote in 2008, or amend CTT rules, consult the DC Secretary, during August 2008 and attend the District Council AGM. Pamphlets, Measured Miles etc Advice pamphlets on timekeeping, handicapping and course measuring are available from the District Secretary. The District has a number of measured miles laid out. Details are available from the District Secretary. The DC has an approved rev. counter available on loan.
