Conditions were ideal with plenty of sunshine and a very light wind, although early starters will have felt a nip in the air. So riders made the most of the rare conditions for this Molash course and practically re-wrote the record books for this event. Roadman Kevin Tye, making a rare time trial appearance, sliced 36 seconds off the Event Record, set in 2002, and relegated last year's winner, Paul Burrows, to 2nd place. The former Event Record holder, Paul Smith, completed a trio of 55's for 3rd place. A total of 17 riders produced sub-hour rides, four more than had previously been recorded. Event Records fell in other categories too, with Carole Gandy setting a new mark for Ladies (1.02.09) and Veteran's (+20.21). Then to complete this record-breaking feast defending team winners, Kent Cycles Road Club, set an aggregate time of 2.52.06, an improvement of 1.31 over last year's record. The only record to remain intact was Karl Strugnell's Junior time of 1.00.46, set in 2002. Event Secretary Graham Galpin will have gone home well satisfied with this, his first ever promotion.
